Tax refund: deadline to take the goods out of Korea

The refund is conditional on export, and the condition has a clock. It matters most to people who are not tourists — someone who buys early in a stay and leaves months later can fall outside it entirely, and someone who took the refund at the till has already received money against a condition they may not meet.

Departure with the goods is required within three months of purchase as a rule, and the goods should remain new, unopened and unused. A refund already taken at the till or in the city is still given against this condition.
