NHIS: shortened exemption period for work-related overseas stay
Widely quoted as though one month abroad suspends anyone's premiums, which is not the rule. It is a shortened period available where the service recognises the stay as work-related, sitting alongside the general three-month period rather than replacing it. Recorded separately from that period because conflating the two produces confident advice to business travellers that does not survive contact with a bill.

- Subscribers whose overseas stay is recognised by the insurance service as being for work

- Checked once a year
What we have recorded
- 2026-10-041 month, work-related only
Applies where the insurance service recognises the overseas stay as being for the purpose of work. A one-month business trip does not exempt a subscriber as of right; recognition is the operative step. The dependants condition applying to workplace subscribers is unaffected by which period applies.

One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
