NHIS dependant: annual combined income ceiling
The single figure that decides most dependant applications, and one that circulates at the wrong value in a great deal of secondary guidance. It also catches people who believe they have no income at all: interest, dividends, business, employment, pension and other statutory income are combined, so an overseas pension or investment return can breach a ceiling a person assumed was irrelevant to them.
- Applies to
- Anyone being registered as a dependant of a workplace health insurance subscriber, Korean or foreign
- Review cadence
- Checked once a year
What we have recorded
- 2026-10-02₩20,000,000
Combined annual income of interest, dividend, business, employment, pension and other income as defined by the health insurance rules. A separate and stricter condition applies to business income specifically. Where the prospective dependant is married, the rule requires both spouses to satisfy the income condition, which is the part most often missed when registering a parent.

One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
