Limited-transaction account: daily limit at the branch counter
The practical obstacle for a new company, and one nobody is warned about before the account exists. It has nothing to do with nationality or with the company's capital — it follows from the bank being unable to verify a financial transaction purpose, which a business with no trading history cannot do yet. It was raised in 2024 and is worth re-checking rather than assuming.
- Applies to
- Accounts opened as limited-transaction accounts at ordinary banks, including newly incorporated companies that cannot yet evidence a transaction purpose
- Review cadence
- Checked once a year
What we have recorded
- 2026-10-07₩3,000,000 per day
Raised from May 2024 for ordinary banks. Internet-only banks and individual institutions can set their own figures, so this is the general banking-sector level rather than an absolute ceiling on every account in Korea. For a business paying wages, rent and materials it is still low enough to matter from the first month.
Financial Services Commission — 2024 raise to limited-transaction account limits
One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
