Failing to report a change of stay address: the penalty

Up to ₩1,000,000 — a criminal fineKRW maximum, criminal fine

Recorded because almost every English-language moving checklist calls this an administrative fine, and it is not one. It is a criminal fine under the Immigration Act — a different legal character with different consequences for someone whose residence status is reviewed on their record. The amount matters less than the category.

    Up to ₩1,000,000 — a criminal fine

A criminal fine (벌금), not an administrative fine (과태료). Failure to report other changes to alien registration particulars sits under different provisions with a different enforcement structure, so the two should not be quoted as one rule. For a person whose visa extension or status change is assessed partly on compliance history, the classification is the part that carries weight.

    Immigration Act, art. 98(2)

One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
