Filings that substitute for resident registration in a housing lease

2 — stay-address report, domestic residence reportrecognised equivalents for foreign nationals

Because every Korean-language guide says 전입신고 and a foreign tenant cannot make one. That produces two failures: tenants who conclude the protection is unavailable to them, and tenants who assume the contract alone is enough. Neither is right — there is a substitute filing, it is a different office from the one the guides name, and it has to actually be made at the leased address.

    2 — stay-address report, domestic residence report

A registered foreign national who reports or changes their stay address to the leased housing can be recognised as meeting the resident registration requirement. For overseas Koreans the domestic residence report performs the same function. The practical failure is leaving the immigration stay-address different from the lease address for months — the filing is what carries the protection, not the contract.

One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
