Penalty for not using a reported business-use account
Kept separate from the non-reporting penalty because the two are different calculations on different bases, and merging them into one '0.2% of revenue' line is the most common error in Korean small-business guidance. This one is charged on the transactions that bypassed the account, so it scales with how much of the business ran through the wrong place.
- Applies to
- Double-entry bookkeeping obligors who reported a business-use account but settled qualifying transactions elsewhere
- Review cadence
- Checked once a year
What we have recorded
- 2026-10-070.2% of the bypassing transactions
The transactions that must go through the account are payments and receipts of transaction consideration made through a financial institution, and payments and receipts of wages and rent. Registering an account at Hometax while continuing to receive sales or pay salaries and rent from a private account leaves this penalty running. It applies even where there is no calculated income tax.
Income Tax Act, art. 81-8 (penalty on business-use accounts)
One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
