Leave use-promotion: first written notice, general annual leave

6 months before expirymonths before the leave expires

This is a procedure that changes who owes money, so its dates are not administrative detail. Employers routinely apply the general schedule to first-year employees, whose timetable is different and shorter — which invalidates the promotion and leaves the unused-leave pay owing. The figure also needs watching rather than memorising: an amendment of 9 June 2026 carries provisions that do not commence until 10 June 2027, so guidance describing the later position is not the rule in force.

What we have recorded

  1. 2026-09-19
    6 months before expiry

General annual leave: within 10 days of the point six months before the leave period ends, the employer notifies the employee in writing of the unused days and asks them to fix dates; if the employee does not reply within 10 days, the employer designates the dates in writing by two months before the period ends. First-year leave runs on its own shorter timetable — first notice keyed to three months before the first year ends, employer designation by one month before — with a further compressed schedule for days that accrue after the first notice.

One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
