Alien registration: deadline from entry
The first deadline of a stay in Korea, and the one that gates almost everything after it — a phone line for identity verification, a bank account, and a tenant's opposing power all wait on the registration number. Recorded because it is routinely described as a deadline to collect a card by, which is a different obligation from the one the statute imposes.
- Applies to
- Foreign nationals intending to stay in Korea for more than 90 days
- Review cadence
- Checked once a year
What we have recorded
- 2026-10-1290 days from entry
The obligation is to complete the alien registration, not merely to have applied or to hold a card by then. A separate registration point can apply where status is granted or changed inside Korea. Treating 90 days as a target rather than a ceiling is the practical mistake: appointment availability and document preparation both run ahead of it, and everything downstream is blocked until the registration number exists.
Immigration Act — alien registration
One reading so far. This becomes a history the first time the figure moves while we are watching — which is the part that cannot be reconstructed later.
