Korea Severance Pay Calculator

Statutory severance is thirty days of average wage per year of continuous service — and average wage is your final three months of pay divided by the calendar days in that period, not the days you worked. This calculator uses that divisor, adds regular bonuses at three twelfths of the prior year, and applies the ordinary wage floor that protects anyone whose last months included leave or unpaid time.

Your service and pay

The legal leaving date, which is not always your last day in the office.

From the payslips: base pay, fixed allowances and premium pay. Exclude regular bonuses — they go in the next field.

Three twelfths of this is added to the wage total.

Enter this if your final months included leave, unpaid time or reduced hours. Where the average wage falls below it, the law uses the ordinary wage instead.

Daily average wage × 30 × (service days ÷ 365). The divisor is the calendar days in the three-month period, not the days you worked — dividing by working days overstates the result by roughly half. This model does not apply to a defined contribution (DC) plan, where the entitlement is built from each year's employer contributions rather than from a final average wage.

These move. We check them on a schedule and keep the previous values, so you can see what a figure was, not only what it is.
